Well it happened. December rolled around and the days will tick off faster than greased lightning. Last night I put up most of the decorations. Hubby finally got around to the putting the tree up, and that left the ornaments to me. I was a little sad to be putting them up all by MYSELF. Remembering the days when it was a family event. Little hands digging into the box of ornaments. I always had 'dreams of it being a wonderful Norman Rockwell moment. However there were the usual... little arguments and me trying to get the tree 'Just Right'. Trying to make the Daddy be REALLY involved, not just 'sorta'. It was great...don't get me wrong...just not perfect. Did I ever guess how quick the days would come when I was doing it all by myself? NO... of course not. Yes, I know I could have had the kids over to help, but then you have to have a miracle happen to get the schedule right. Maybe next year.
I don't know about you... but I better do some careful calendar planning to fit in somethings I want to do. I will do it!!! BUT... more importantly...I won't stress if we don't do IT. Whatever the it might be...making the Gingerbread house with the kids...things like that. How about you? What is your IT list?

Fun watching your kiddies grow up!
I really need to send out some cards this year. I stopped about 10 years ago because I just couldn't get it done. I have friends who've never seen pix of my grandkids, and in fact don't even know I have them.
Your little granddaughter is so cute. It looks like another wonderful birthday celebration for your family. Right now I'm in the middle of trying to get all my painting done for Christmas gifts. I'm behind for sure. I still have gifts to buy and presents to wrap. The decorating is done except for the outside and maybe that will happen on the weekend. I don' t do a big tree at all any more, but have a couple of small table top ones that I sit around. We go to one of my children's homes when we get together for Christmas so no one but me really sees it anyway. Hope your plans all work out.
Oh gosh, if I actually was brave enough to make a list I'm sure it would be a long one. I have done some shopping, but no wrapping and no decorating.
I love the birthday pictures. Eight is really a fun age with little girls.
I hope you get everything done that you need to do. We can compare notes (or lists) next week.
I'm doing the decorating alone these days too Pam. Our Christmases weren't perfect either, but they were wonderful just the same. I don't imagine anyone pulls off one that is perfect.
Your granddaughter is precious. Our eight year old loves stuffed animals too - a very worn out old bunny in particular.
I hope your Christmas season is filled with joy and all the things you love to do.
nice post! thank you so much for sharing...blessings... soraya
I have done it alone the last few years, but had lots of little hands help this year - especially with Hayley when it was just the two of us for a couple of hours this week. The twins loved putting things all on one branch - I had to get a shot of that. They were so excited.
In the days when the kids were helping, I always sure to point out each year's special ornament as we went along. There are so many "special" yearly ornaments now!
It's interesting how close in ages our 9 girls are, respectively.
I have so many things on the calendar that I've seen in the paper and have written down for the next 3 Saturdays. I don't know how many we'll do, but it's fun to dream. Add in all the rehearsals, and it's challenging. I haven't done a Christmas letter for the last 2 years and it's not looking good for this year either. Maybe Valentine's, since we're the V capital of the world!
Re your comment to my last post - I have 11 posts where I've marked them about "music" and know there are quite a few more that I wrote before Blogger gave us the option of tagging what they were about. Guess it is a huge part of my life, eh??
Have a great week-end - the 4th snow already in this short season!
GREAT birthday pictures! She is growing up very fast.
My thing I LOVE to do and want NOT to miss is sending out Christmas cards. We know quite a few out of town and out of state people. It is fun to keep up with each other at least once a year.
What a sweet grandgirl! Eight is such a sweet age! Hope you get everything done! blessings, Kathleen
Wow, are those ice cream cone thingies!? Looks like lots of ice cream!! I am glad you didn't show and chocolate because I am craving some right this moment. I may have to run out to the store. I actually don't have much on my to do list. I finished shopping, mailed my cards, and did the little bit of decorating I wanted to....the only thing on my to do list is to try to slow the days down---I love this time of the year right before Christmas!
Belated Happy birthday to Miss Anery.. shes 8 already!
My one and only grand turned 18 in Sept. My how time fly's.
Our Christmas is pretty simple but I love this time of year.
hugs,
Pam
